Hi Android engines fan!
I'm looking for Mike Byrne's updated engines:

Harmon v13.1a
Bluefish v13.1a
Black Diamond v13.1a
Oki Maguro v13.1a

I have the apks but I need only binaries to add them to my Chess for Android 6.2.1 tournament
I have only Honey v14 compiled by Archimedes

Thanks in advance
Alex

apks are just zip-files. So rename your .apk to .zip and then unzip it. Inside you will find all the engines as armv7, armv7-neon, and armv8 versions.

These guys are still favouring Linux when doing compilations despite Android is keeping to grow in usage and most probably it will overcome Windows in the next years...

since SF is much faster on Windows and Linux than on Android. And maybe also because automated compilation for Android is quite difficult. CECSA can't be used I guess .. crying

You are probably right, because of notruck's makefile changes. Someone should ask the SFdevs, if Android compiles could be provided.

It's not a matter of speed, especially with these NNUE nets, it's not a matter anymore, it's a matter of usage. In India alone there is a wide range of users using Android on a smartphone because they don't have enough money for a personal computer.

I agree with Mr. Goi

In this time of era, where the usage of smartphones has spread to the wide and massive area and users, the progress to achieve what could possibly done by computer are getting close or even in some points, has been stay in the same level..

Let's see some of the biggest chess aplication in Internet right know Chess.com & Lichess.. if we go to Play Store and see how many Android users has downloaded them, then we'll see how big it is

5M downloaded for Lichess
10M downloaded for Chess.com ( Chess- play and learn )
While I'm sure there must be a lot of others Android users who' has acsess these sites through the regular browsers like goggle

Not to mention from any others 3rd chess aplications.. which many of them has millions of downloader..

There's so many excess of smartphone rather than PC in some points if we want to hook it up to the chess engine usage
From it's price, practical, size and dimension, to the easiness of operating it in daily use..

Imagine that u can bring a powerful program of chess in ur pocket
With 3,2 Ghz of SOC speed, 8 core, and top of engines plus strongest opening book.. and then when ur waiting for ur wife on shooping at Mall, u simply have to find a right spot at the corner of the store or cafe, and then open ur smartphone.. getting paired with ur opponent, then u play with them..

Well.. I don't know about u guys.. but for me.. it's really "SOMETHING"..

I also agree with kramnik! I use SF much more often on a smartphone than on a PC, because the smartphone can be used everywhere, and there is no need to sit in front of a screen at a table. And about engine speed I don't care. But do we really need Android SF compiles directly from the SFdevs/abrok? Everyone is free to ask them for additional armv7 and armv8 SF compiles. smile3

I think we should..
It's about the time now for the SF Team to think wider if they want to keep their creation getting famous and top usage of more users, whicb would rise their marketing level in many platforms..

Some SFdevs are reading here, sometimes even post something...
A new thread, getting longer and longer each day, with a thread title like 'SFdevs, Android users need your help...' may be useful. Who knows :smile2:
